Terms & Conditions

1. General

These terms and conditions, apply to all estimates, quotations, repairs, servicing and supplying of any goods (“Goods”) provided by Mike Fletcher Electronics; to any person requesting the same (“Buyer”).

2. Estimates

All estimates shall lapse after 30 days but may be withdrawn by notice at any time.
2.1 Estimates are subject to the availability of the necessary components at the time of acceptance.
2.2 Verbal estimates provided by Mike Fletcher Electronics are subject to a 10% variation to allow for fluctuations on the cost of parts and other factors.
2.3 Mike Fletcher Electronics reserves the right to submit a revised estimate if the need for additional work becomes apparent after work has commenced; and/or the cost of any parts have changed. In such situations, work will be suspended pending the receipt of further instructions from the Buyer and acceptance of these by Mike Fletcher Electronics.
2.4 Where an estimate is declined by the Buyer, they have the choice of: (a) collecting the equipment unrepaired from our premises; (b) arranging for Mike Fletcher Electronics to return the equipment to the customer’s home, which is subject to a return fee; (c) having the equipment disposed of by a licensed waste disposal company.
2.5 We reserve the right to decline a service call request if it appears likely that the set is going to be beyond economical repair, any likely parts required are no longer available or if we believe the repair is not viable for whatever reason

3. Repair Deposit

Mike Fletcher Electronics reserves the right to charge a non-refundable inspection fee prior to commencing any work and/or a reasonable deposit from the Buyer towards the cost of any repair or service. An additional fee will apply when a written report is required.
Please note that with some fewer common brands we may have difficulty in sourcing spare parts. Whilst we will make every effort to obtain any necessary parts and or service information, our inspection fee will still apply, even if we cannot complete a repair due to parts or service information being unavailable.

4. Collection from the Buyer

If Mike Fletcher Electronics agrees to arrange for Goods to be collected from the Buyer, Mike Fletcher Electronics shall not be responsible for loss or damage to the Goods due to insufficient or improper packaging or for any other consequential loss or damage, howsoever arising. Mike Fletcher Electronics shall notify the Buyer of any charges to be made before collection of Goods. Making the Goods available for collection shall be deemed acceptance of such collection charges by the Buyer.

5. Appointments

Where the Buyer requests a service call with Mike Fletcher Electronics an appointment will normally be arranged for a morning call which will be anytime between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm or an afternoon call which will be anytime between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm. If requested Mike Fletcher Electronics will endeavour to narrow the appointment time down, however we cannot guarantee this. Mike Fletcher Electronics reserve the right to charge the Buyer for missed or broken appointments.

6. Collection after service, repair or replacement

Unless otherwise agreed in writing by Mike Fletcher Electronics, serviced, repaired or replacement Goods shall be held at Mike Fletcher Electronics’ premises for collection by the Buyer until full payment has been received. Goods shall be signed for on receipt by or on the behalf of the Buyer.

7. Risk

The risk of loss or damage to Goods shall only pass to Mike Fletcher Electronics upon delivery to Mike Fletcher Electronics’ premises and only once we have had the opportunity to power up the TV and check that the screen is not damaged. The risk will then pass from Mike Fletcher Electronics to the Buyer upon delivery of Goods after service, repair or replacement at the address specified by the Buyer or into custody on his/hers behalf (whichever is sooner).
7.1 Mike Fletcher Electronics shall not be liable for the loss or damage to leads, cassette tapes, audio tapes, Compact Disks, DVD disks, Blu-Ray discs, records or other media that may accompany any Goods.
7.2 When repairing recorders with an integral hard disk drive we cannot guarantee the contents of the hard drive. Some fault conditions necessitate the need for us to erase the hard drive or it may be faulty in which case the contents are lost. We cannot be held liable for any loss of recordings.
7.3 When replacing the backlights within a screen during the intricate procedure we ensure that we take every care not to damage the delicate LCD membrane, however we cannot be held responsible if the screen is inadvertently and irretrievably damaged during the process. This process is undertaken at the customers risk.
7.4 Until we address the initial fault symptoms that we are informed of and we rectify the first apparent fault on a piece of equipment we are obviously unable to fully test the remainder of the equipment. We therefore reserve the right to complete and charge for a repair even if certain functions are not working.

8. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing payment is due and must be paid on or before collection of the serviced, repaired or replacement Goods by the Buyer. Mike Fletcher Electronics accepts payment by Cash, Credit Cards, Debit Cards and Cheque, but only up to the limit of the cheque guarantee card which should accompany the cheque and only one cheque per transaction.

9. Uncollected Goods

When Goods are ready for collection or redelivery after repair/service or when an estimate has been declined Mike Fletcher Electronics will contact the Buyer by telephone using the contact details supplied. If we fail to contact the Buyer by telephone Mike Fletcher Electronics shall write to the Buyer at the address specified by the Buyer (“the Initial Letter”). If the Buyer does not contact Mike Fletcher Electronics, Mike Fletcher Electronics shall write to the Buyer at least one month after the date of the Initial Letter. If the Goods have not been collected, or if instructions to deliver the Goods or to commence work have not been given by the Buyer and accepted by Mike Fletcher Electronics within three months of the date of the Initial Letter title to the Goods shall pass to Mike Fletcher Electronics who shall then be free to dispose of the Goods and the Buyer shall not be entitled to payment of any compensation.
9.1 Mike Fletcher Electronics reserves the right to levy storage charges at it discretion where Goods are not collected by the Buyer within 14 days from the date of the Initial Letter.

10. Repair Warranty

Mike Fletcher Electronics warrants that any repair made hereunder shall be free of defect in material and workmanship for ninety days after delivery or collection of Goods to the Buyer. Your statutory rights are not affected.
10.1 Mike Fletcher Electronics warrants that no Goods serviced hereunder shall develop any defect which should have been revealed by the service for ninety days after delivery to or collection of the Goods by the Buyer.
10.2 Mike Fletcher Electronics will only warrant the repair undertaken and not the complete Goods.

11. Sales Warranty

All new equipment is guaranteed by Mike Fletcher Electronics for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. Reconditioned equipment is guaranteed by Mike Fletcher Electronics for three months from the date of purchase. Your statutory rights are not affected.

12. Manufacturers Guarantee

Mike Fletcher Electronics shall accept repairs under manufacturer’s guarantees, to whom we hold agencies for, if all requirements are met as per the manufactures requirements.
12.1 Mike Fletcher Electronics may apply a Charge for a contribution towards the call out, if the manufacturers guarantee does not cover this.
12.2 In cases where Mike Fletcher Electronics calls out to Goods covered by a manufacturer’s warranty we reserve the right to charge the Buyer under the following circumstances: (a) our engineers are unable to find any apparent fault; (b) the equipment only requires adjusting and/or setting-up; (c) the cause of the problem is due to external factors such as an aerial, satellite dish or other equipment not covered by the warranty.
12.3 In all cases, when the Goods are under a manufacturer’s warranty, the Buyer must bring along their original receipt or other proof of purchase.
12.4 If upon inspection Mike Fletcher Electronics finds that the Goods do not have a manufacturing defect the Buyer will be informed and a charge will be made for the inspection, and any subsequent repair.

13. Privacy & Customer’s Rights

By arranging a repair with Mike Fletcher Electronics the Buyer is deemed to have given their permission to the following:
13.1  When requesting a warranty repair a customer’s details will be passed to the manufacturer following a repair of the Goods.
13.2 Any software / firmware upgrades will be undertaken if required or to effect a repair or to improve the reliability of your equipment.
13.3 Any elicit material found on their product will be reported to the authorities. If requested to download footage for a customer, the content will be checked. If it is found to be of a nature that we believe may be illegal, it will be reported to the relevant authorities.
13.4  If the Goods have previously been subjected to a Specialist calibration or region modified, the Buyer accepts that the product will be returned to them without their previous set up and Mike Fletcher Electronics is not responsible for restoring this. If we are able to restore any modification this will incur an additional charge.

14. Wall Mounted Equipment

When calling out to repair wall mounted flat panel televisions, Mike Fletcher Electronics will normally only remove the equipment from the wall bracket providing the distance between the base of the set and the floor does not exceed one metre. This applies to both under warranty, insurance and chargeable repairs. Special arrangements may be made to handle equipment in higher locations, but at an additional cost. Alternatively, you may wish to arrange removal of the set from the wall bracket onto a suitable stand before we call.

15. Loan Televisions

The provision of a loan television by Mike Fletcher Electronics is subject to availability. Loan sets are the responsibility of the Buyer and the Buyer must ensure that they have adequate insurance cover to insure against theft, loss or damage of the equipment.

16. Installation Fee

As described on our service page, we offer an installation and set-up service. We will endeavour to leave the equipment in full working order, with all channels etc. available. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, such as a defective aerial installation or a fault on your equipment, this may not be possible. Our standard set-up fee will still apply, see our service page for pricing details. If an installation is particularly time consuming or if we have to set-up more than one piece of equipment, we reserve the right to make an additional charge to cover our time.

17. LED Backlight Repairs

An all too common problem is the failure of the LED backlights within an LCD panel (screen). When replacing the backlights within a screen during the intricate procedure we ensure that we take every care not to damage the delicate LCD membrane, however we cannot be held responsible if the screen is inadvertently and irretrievably damaged during the process. This process is undertaken at the customers risk.
